Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Aleta Collagen — from our kosher certification to how and when to take it.

✦ Certified OU Kosher Pareve · Bovine & Marine
Is Aleta Collagen really kosher?+
Yes — and not just "self-declared" kosher. Aleta Collagen holds OU Kosher Pareve certification, the most widely recognized kosher certification in the world, overseen by the Orthodox Union. Both our bovine and marine collagen are sourced and processed under strict rabbinical supervision from start to finish. You can verify our certification at oukosher.org.
If bovine collagen comes from cows, how can it be Pareve?+
This is the #1 question we receive — and it has a fascinating halachic answer. The OU's position, based on rulings by leading authorities including Rav Moshe Feinstein z"l (Igros Moshe Y.D. 2:23) and Rav Aharon Kotler z"l, is that hydrolyzed collagen derived from the hides of properly slaughtered and koshered cows is not only kosher — it's classified as Pareve. This means it can be taken alongside dairy foods. Read the full halachic analysis →
Why do some brands say "kosher" but aren't actually certified?+
Many collagen brands print a plain "K" or the word "kosher" on their packaging — but this is self-declared and unverifiable. A lone "K" is not a recognized kosher certification. Reputable agencies such as the OU, OK, Star-K, and Kof-K require ongoing production oversight and auditing before certification is granted.

Aleta Collagen carries full OU Pareve certification — accepted by all major kosher standards worldwide. See how we compare to Vital Proteins →
What's the difference between your bovine and marine collagen?+
Both are OU Kosher certified and deliver 9g of pure hydrolyzed collagen per packet, but with meaningful differences:

🐄 Bovine Collagen — Sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised cow hides. Rich in Type I & III collagen, supporting skin, joints, gut, and muscle recovery. Also Kosher for Passover.

🐟 Marine Collagen — Sourced from wild-caught tilapia scales. Rich in Type I collagen with smaller peptides for slightly faster absorption, ideal for skin, hair, and nails. Note: marine collagen is not Kosher for Passover.

Both are unflavored, gluten-free, dairy-free, and dissolve effortlessly in hot or cold liquids. Read our full Bovine vs Marine comparison →
Can I use Aleta Collagen with dairy foods or add it to my coffee?+
Yes! Because Aleta Collagen is certified Pareve, it can be combined with both meat and dairy meals — no mixing concerns. Our customers love stirring a packet into their morning coffee, yogurt, milk-based smoothies, or soup. It is completely tasteless and odorless and dissolves easily without clumping.
Is the packaging Shabbos-friendly?+
Yes! Our single-serve packets are designed with Shabbos observance in mind — they open cleanly without any letters or pictures on the tear line, so there are no concerns about tearing through text. Simply tear and pour. This thoughtful detail is one our observant customers regularly highlight in their reviews.
How do I take Aleta Collagen and how much should I use?+
Each packet contains 9g of hydrolyzed collagen peptides — one packet per day is the recommended serving. Collagen dissolves best in warm liquids but also works in cold drinks. Add it to coffee, tea, water, juice, oatmeal, soups, or baked goods. There's no ideal time of day — your body absorbs collagen the same way morning, afternoon, or night. Just stay consistent. 💡 Tip: Use our Glow Getter Frother for a perfectly smooth, lump-free result every time.
How long until I see results?+
Results vary by individual, but here's the general timeline our customers report:

2–4 weeks: Improvements in skin clarity, nail strength, and hair texture.
4–8 weeks: Visible changes in skin elasticity, hair growth, and nail thickness.
8–12 weeks: Joint comfort, gut health, and muscle recovery benefits as your body rebuilds its collagen tissue.

Consistency is everything — one packet daily gives your body the building blocks it needs. See the science behind collagen →
Is Aleta Collagen third-party tested?+
Yes. Aleta Collagen is third-party tested for purity, potency, and quality. We are one of the only OU Kosher collagen brands that regularly tests our products and makes those results available to customers.
